You might be wondering what kind of a guy puts up a web site like this, so this is a
moment to share myself. Like every body else on the planet, I'm a sexual being and like
many I'm also a Christian. The two are often a strange and difficult mix. We Christians
often find our lust battling against our faith, and the experience brings us to a crisis. Am I
really converted? How can this be happening to me? That's certainly been my experience.
I became a Christian at 15, but soon found that the event didn't lessen the homosexual
feelings I had; in fact, it seemed to heighten them. In my panic and fear over the years, I used
every religious exercise in the book - agonizing prayer, bible reading, fasting, avoiding this
and that. But I didn't understand how the Cross of Jesus Christ affects sexuality as faith
allows sex and God to meet and produces something new. It took twenty years of thrashing
around in the swamp before I began to see what true faith in Christ was all about. And it was
a discovery that was to have profound changes in my life.
As I applied faith, the addictive homosexual drive lessened, emotional maturity increased,
heterosexual interest first developed, I married. But it was not without immense pain and
embarrassment.
I have two children, but I am divorced after twenty years of marriage. I had a ministry of
recovery from homosexuality, but lost it through my own foolishness though the Lord restored
it again. You can look my name up anywhere else on the web and you'll find a sorry story of
defeat, of which I am not proud. But through it all, growing in faith has continued, and I can
only thank God for always loving me and staying by me as He will with anyone who does not
finally let go of his faith in Christ.
As of this writing I'm 70. I spend my time counseling people writing, teaching and
broadcasting on what I've come to call faith-training. Some of my teaching is a little
unorthodox and may not make it through your church door, but you can be sure it is
consistent with Scripture and the way God works with people who have to live with their
sexuality in one way or another every day.
Basically I teach how faith intersects sexuality and moves it out of the addictive mode into a
place of innocence. This has marvelous results for people whose homosexual feelings or
heterosexuality are out of control through addictive drives. I've seen addiction disappear or
greatly lessen in people's lives and my own. I have seen the development of heterosexuality
in some who came out of homosexuality and wanted to go for marriage. And I have seen gay
men and women discover that God's grace is for them too, and that He will receive them right
where they are in Christ and lead them in continual growth in Him.
As I keep moving on in life I want my message to people to be more about the process than
the finished product. No-one who believes in Jesus is static. We are accepted in the
wholeness of Christ's life and in that wholeness we keep growing and growing. My
experience of this is sufficiently meaningful to me to sense that what I've discovered about
Christ and sexuality could be helpful to you too. Yet not only you who have sexual conflicts.
To speak of how faith intercepts sexuality is to speak of how it intercepts the faith-life
everywhere. You may be struggling with alcohol, drugs, gambling, weight problems, food
addictions or the effects of horrendous abuse. You may be lonely, depressed, concerned
about whether God has accepted you, or just a plain worrier! How faith intercepts all these
experiences is right here on this web site.
Please enjoy this new website. You'll see it growing from day to day, week to week, month to
month. Above all, it's for you. I hope, by visiting this web site daily, you will never again have to
ask, "Is there anybody who cares for my soul?" God does, my friend. Nothing is too deep or
too overwhelming for Him. He has wiped the debt of the human race off the slate in Christ.
You can approach Him with everything that bothers you and find the comfort and help of the
Creator of the hearts of all men and women.
