HEARTWARMING LETTERS FROM LISTENERS TO "HOW IT HAPPENS" ON FAITHQUEST RADIO
|

I wanted to let you know at this time of year what a blessing your radio program has been for over 10 years, and continues to be. This was especially brought to mind last week when something happened on my job.
I was called to task about something that I had not done. Later it was agreed that I was never told to do it and things worked out OK for me. However, at the time I was feeling very low for not accomplishing the task set before me.
I turned on KLT to get some encouragement, but wouldn't you know that I happened to turn into the middle of a very legalistic sermon telling me that if I didn't shape up and get it right, I was surely going to hell. I think he used the words, 'God expects', 'God demands', and 'God requires' all in a 90 second period. My depression soon turned to despondency and I turned off the radio after about 5 minutes.
A few days later I heard a pastor doing a word study on Matthew 11: 29,30, 'For my yoke is easy'. He spent the entire 30 minutes telling us that in the original Greek this verse really didn't mean what it says. By the time the 30 minutes were up, I was totally exhausted.
And then a third time I heard a quote that I have heard many times in my life, 'Christianity is NOT for wimps'. Well I guess that leaves me, and about half of everyone else, OUT. There are days when I couldn't 'fight my way out of a paper sack'. Another quote I have heard all my life.
It was Friday night when I turned on 'How It Happens' and you gave me the simple Gospel of Hope that I have come toe expect for over 10 years. For the first time all week I actually felt like there was Light, Christ Jesus, at the end of the tunnel. Thank you very much.
Ironically, after what I have written, I am going to admonish you to 'Keep up the good fight' in 2011. There are a lot of us Wimps out there in Radioland, counting on you.
Your brother in Christ,

God only knows how you've touched my heart at 4 am on KLT Radio
when I have my precious time with the Lord from 30 minutes to 2 1/2
hours in the night. The Holy Spirit gently awakens me as He has during
the past 16 years. It is the most precious part of my day.
You have a special "anointing" from God on your life, and I thank Him for
directing me to FaithQuest back in September 2006. I pray that sometime
I will get to your Saturday Seminar soon. Could you mail me directions
coming in from the North?
Thank you and God bless you. Keep up the good work.
Your teaching is extraordinary!
It seems that most churches and pastors make being a Christian harder
than it should be. I don't really know why, but they do. I pray that folks
could really find the true joy and forgiveness and acceptance that we
have in Christ and with God.
I really miss the half-hour broadcasts. So I pray that you can go back
to them. I listen regularly and look forward to hearing from you. I have
gained tremendously in knowledge and in my walk with God. What a
difference!!
Peace with God is a great thing indeed.
So, no worries on my end. I pray you are well. Keep up the good fight and
know that you are doing a wonderful work. God is certainly smiling! And
I know that Jesus is proud of his friend, You!
Blessings,
I would dearly love to have you do a Cook's Monthly Message* CD on
your teaching about "praying in faith", (as opposed to "neurotic
deliverance praying!").
Your teaching on this aspect of prayer TRULY revolutionized my
Christian life years ago! I have attempted to share it with many people
over the years, but I never seem to explain it as well as you do. I have
come to call it "U-Turn Praying", because one begins by being honest
with God about one's own feelings and/or situation... but then, instead
of dwelling on that and repeating it to ourselves (or begging for
deliverance), we do a "U-Turn". We pray it back to God from God's own
perspective - re-framing it within His own truth, and largely leaving
behind our former perspective. What a powerful truth this is!
I tend to find that most people's prayer life works against them, because
in their praying they dwell upon the negative, which only deepens the
negative and tends to spiral downward.
Understanding this was a great help to me - not so much because I
believed in "deliver me" prayer myself, but because it helped me begin
to reinforce in my mind (and rehearse to myself) God's perspective on
the situation at the very moment I needed it most.
Even so, it is certainly fair to say that many Christians are weighed
down by repetitive "deliver me from my circumstance" praying, and this
technique can certainly help them with that!
Perhaps you have already done a CD on this before I became a partner*.
(If so, I'd sure love a copy!), but if not, might you consider this as a
possible topic? I have several young people whom I am attempting to
disciple and with whom I've already shared some of your material. I
would love to have them hear this teaching on prayer directly from you.
I think it is a topic on which you are uniquely gifted to communicate.
May God bestow his richest blessing and greatest joy on you. Thank you
so much for all you do.
Listening avidly via the web,
* John is a long-time Partner of this ministry and receives a special 60-minute teaching

I work nights. So I put my alarm on for 10 pm when your radio
broadcasts comes on air. That way your program is the first thing that I
listen to and it starts my day going.
I haven't been listening to your broadcast very long but already I feel
enlightened by your message. What does it take to be saved? Some
mention the verse in James 2:25 which some interpret as salvation by
the law. But Paul in Romans delivers the imperative truth. Thank you
for taking a great burden off the hearts of many, and keep going!...
I pray the Lord will give you the strength and funds your wonderful
ministry needs. So many so called 'Christians' think that by going to
church, tithing, and saying a prayer at mealtimes will lead them into a
blessed eternity. In reality they are just as lost as heathens. It is FAITH
which leads to the solid foundation on which to lean.
God bless you and your ministry. Occasionally I'm able to catch you on
the radio, especially when I was working nights. I've always appreciate
the explanations of the Word that you are able to deliver so clearly.
You are blessed and gifted and equipped to help reveal the treasure of
the Word to us in our everyday life. Please accept this donation and
know that I will continue to pray you are blessed for all you do.
Thanks for your training, which has helped me grow in joy and become
closer with Jesus and God. I listen to you on my way to work.
Best wishes,
Hello, how are you? I want to tell you that your ministry has been
such a help in my daily walk with our Savior Jesus Christ. You were
the first ministry I started listening to after I became born again in
November 2003. Your words have strengthened me so much. You
see, I struggle daily with pornography and I become so ashamed of
myself that my walk with the Lord suffers because I feel I can no
longer be forgiven. But our Savior is faithful and gives me His love,
hope and comfort through you. Praise God!
I listened to your program last night and realized my monthly giving
has fallen off a bit. If you could possibly contact me I would like to set
up an automatic pay using my credit card.
I will be praying for you and your ministry
Sincerely,
I have been enjoying your teaching on Romans from the internet. Our
son in D.C. told me about your website.
I would like to begin supporting your ministry, so I am enclosing a
check for $25.
Thanks so much for your teaching of this book. I've spent a lot of time
in Romans, but mostly in chapters 5-8. What riches there are in the
earlier chapters!
In Christ,
Your teaching on Romans chapter 5 is incredible! You're really
bringing the Bible to life for your listeners. I'm really blessed by the
teaching! I don't get this from anyone I have ever heard. Wow...
I am listening to your recent monthly message "Coping with
Depression". It is excellent.
I really appreciate your teaching on it and pointing out the value of
talking to God directly about things (as David did in Psalms) versus
just holding it in.
Such a great insight and very encouraging to me in facing my own
areas of depression.
Thank you again and keep up this good work.
Thank you so much for your ministry. I am praying for you and your
family. Even in these difficult times you somehow keep preaching
and teaching God's salvation message. Your radio message at 4 am
and your monthly CDs really help me a lot as I'm going through the
worst time by far, to date, in my life. Jesus has been so good to me
as I chug along.
You have encouraged me with your down-to-earth teaching. So
often people shy away from one's testimonies. People's testimonies
are very important! Hang in there. May our Lord and Savior be with
you and strengthen you.
Thank you for your bold and thoughtful message on Tuesday night,
August 23. Your comments about knowing that we take advantage
of grace was something I related to, but I took comfort in hearing
you say it. The whole 15 minutes was great really. Your clear
comments about 'falling back into the law' were very insightful. It
was odd because I was cooking many garden veggies and
practicing my saxophone at home when I looked at the clock "by
chance" and it was exactly 10 pm; so I turned on the radio.
Keep it up!
First of all, I want to apologize for not being consistent in my
donations. I will work harder on trying to give a smaller donation
each month rather than a large donation randomly. Thank you again
so much for your broadcast. It continues to teach and train my faith.
Living here in Taiwan has been the most difficult thing I have ever
done in my life. The Lord has allowed many devastating
circumstances here only to bring me out of them with new training
and experiences. I have been going through counseling here and
one big step I had to overcome was forgiving God.
Your messages on wrestling with God have been very helpful. Also,
your examples on saints from the Bible being furious at God showed
me that I can bring my anger into God's presence and through these
times I have been able to forgive God and even myself. Praise God
for your ministry and thank you for putting your broadcasts on the
Internet so I can hear them. Also, I was wondering if you've ever
considered making your broadcast a podcast on iTunes. I think it's
free and you would be able to reach other people. Just a thought I
had.
God bless you!
Thank you so much for your ministry. Your CD's are very
encouraging to me. They really help me to keep pressing on towards
the prize. God has been so good to me. As I look back on my life (I'm
59), it surely hasn't turned out as I planned. I believe being single
and remaining single is a gift from God. But people often draw their
own conclusions. Most are negative. I've come to ignore them. Jesus
knows my heart and sees what goes on behind closed doors. His eyes
are in every place, watching the evil and the good (Prov. 15:3). My
life is totally in His hands. We serve an awesome God. Having a real
relationship with Almighty God and Savior is, to me, very real and
comforting.
You, Colin, are quite often in my prayers. Your son in the slammer.
Your other son in the medical field. How your spouse and you still
communicate after being separated. Hope you got your car running. I
pray that one day I will meet you. I remember someone once said,
"Yesterday's terror is tomorrow's testimony." If God brought you
through THAT, He will bring you through THIS. Colin, continue to
trust in our Great God. He will see you through. I pray our Heavenly
Father richly bless you and your ministry and family and give you
strength. I enjoy listening to you on KLT AM 670 mostly at 4.00 am.
Your teachings are food for my thirsty soul.
I'm writing you a note on what your ministry does for us. Some time
ago I read a book called "The Gospel Solutions", explaining how
Jesus was getting people ready for the New Covenant, and you have
stated similar outlooks. I have always stumbled about the "Law" and
you have given me some clarity. I also love your monthly CD's - love
hearing and praying for you and your sons, Brendan and Chris, as
well as your spiritual sons. I also love how your garden grows under
your loving care. I send what I can. What an awesome God we serve.
I love because of Him.
